The place is blessed with many nature wonder with abundant of flora and fauna. The Recreational Forest of Sekayu is one of the most famous recreational forest in Terengganu and a favorite visitor retreat from the dusk and long hour work.

The crystal clear and cold water that flow from the Sekayu and Tersat river and the beauty of the mother nature all around is very suitable for resting your mind and body and bringing your family for a picnic and to take part in the recreational activities.

The Recreational Forest also have a large area that are suitable for family picnicking and outing activities all over along the sekayu river with many changing rooms and washrooms and a lot of camping area complete with a fire place to cook and boon fire, with electric and clean water supply.

Visitor can relax their day and enjoy walking along the many the recreational ground and to the Taman Pertanian Negeri which is just inside the Hutan Lipur. Here at the Taman Pertanian, visitors will see the flower park, the orchid park, fruit orchard, garden, bird park and animals at the mini zoo like monkeys, beavers, Malaysia sun bear and other. Visitors can also walk along the forest trail that are prepared by the department to see the assortment of plants and wild lives at the nearby forest.

How to go here?

From Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Terengganu

1) By airplane

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and Air Asia offer daily flights from KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) to Kuala Terengganu Airport. Firefly Air flies in from Penang to Kuala Terengganu connecting to Subang Airport daily. Also Firefly Air has a new daily route from Subang to Kerteh in Kemaman, Terengganu. Journey by air takes approximately 45 minutes.

2) By coach

Espress coach departs daily from all of the major cities and towns in the peninsular. Travel from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Terengganu take time 6 hours. The journey includes 2 rest stops or more along the journey for foods, refreshments & toilet stops. The most comfortable coach (VIP) has 24-32 seats in a 2-1 seating arrangement. The seats are spacious with plenty of leg room. There are also double decked 60 seater coaches and 36-40 seater fully air-conditioned coaches with 4 seats abreast that would as well get you to Terengganu in best comfort. If you are traveling overnight, bring some warm clothing (jacket or sweater) as it can be quite cool. Soft or inflatable pillow can help you sleep more comfortably.

Most of the ticket counter only sell one way ticket, passengers may book return or connecting ticket to other destination upon arrival in Kuala Terengganu. Tickets could also be arranged through any of the registered travel agents. Coaches arrive at Kuala Terengganu MBKT Bus Terminal. There are regular town and district bus while taxis service provides feeder mode of transportation to the destination of choice at reasonable rates.

3) By car

Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Terengganu (approx. 455 km): 2 option the coastal road or Jerangau Jabor
Option 1 (coastal road)

Highway 2 KL (Gombak Toll) on Karak.
Highway and continue with East Coast Expressway to Kuantan exit.
Highway 3 Kuantan exit to Kuala Terengganu (Coastal road to Kemaman, Dungun and Kuala Terengganu)(223km).

Option 2 (Jerangau Jabor)Highway 2 KL (Gombak Toll) on Karak Highway and continue with East Coast Expressway to Kuantan exit.
Highway 3 Kuantan exit to Bukit Besi (20+km) - turn left.
Highway 14 Bukit Besi turn off to Dungun/Ajil (114km) - turn left.
Highway 14 Dungun/Ajil to Ajil/Kuala Berang (42km) - turn right.
Highway 14 Ajil to Kuala Terengganu (35km).

From Kuala Terengganu to Recreational Forest of Sekayu

Sekayu is located 56km from Bandar Kuala Terengganu. Visitors can use their own transportation or public transportation like bus or taxi from Kuala Terengganu to Kuala Berang before departing to The Recreational Forest of Sekayu.
